The back porch at 184 Merrell RdWhen I was selling my parents’ home, a neighbor, obviously unaware of my ethnicity, came across to say, “Just don’t sell to any Black people!” I said, “A Black family almost bought our house until they found out that Polish people lived on the block.” He said nothing and turned on his heel. Of course, I made that up to go with HIS ethnicity but I thought it well-deserved. I love enough Poles that I studied the language for several years and my comment was strictly personal, not general!!!! And, the beat goes on and on.
